History:
The history of Bengal goes back as far as an ancient literature "Veda".
Hinduism and Buddhism reached this region between 3rd century BC and 12th
century AD, followed by Islam in 13th century and Europeans in 15th century. All
the era influenced the culture of the land with their various cultural
influences.
Bangladesh lies on the eastern fringe of the Indian sub-continent. And its
people have always been great lovers of freedom. As a result the area has nearly
always enjoyed a fair degree of sovereignty during its history, some time as a
several, with only perfunctory allegiance to the central ruling powers. It has
become a part of British Empires in 18th century. Bangladesh went through the
struggle of independence twice, first in 1947 from the Britain as the east part
of Pakistan, then in 1971 from Pakistan. After a nine months long war of
independence Bangladesh emerged as an Independent and sovereign country in the
world history on December 16th 1971.
Location:
Bangladesh lies at the northeastern part of South Asia and is
surrounded by the India on the west, north & east. The Bay of Bengal is on the
South and Myanmar (Burma) is on the Southeast.
Language:
The state language is Bangla. English is widely spoken and understood.
Religion:
Bangladesh is a land of religious harmony, freedom and tolerance.
People from all the castes and religions live here in perfect harmony. Muslims
contributes 88% while Christen, Buddhist, Hindu and other represents 12% of the
total population. The indigenous peoples of the land have their own religious
tradition.

Ethnic Heritage:
The population of Bangladesh is a mixture of Dravidians, Aryans
and Mongolians, belonging to the black-haired, dark skinned and short featured
Austro Mongoloid group. The indigenous population living in the Hills has their
own distinctive racial features.
Culture:
Our culture is rich and intermingling, Aryans, Hindu, Mughals, Iranians
and colonial Europeans, all left their mark in the cultural identity of the
people.
Climate:
The climate of Bangladesh is sub-tropical and tropical with
temperatures ranging from an average daytime low of 180 C in the winter and to a
top of 380 C in the summer. Annual rainfall varies from 160cm to 200cm in the
west to 200cm to 400cm in the southeast and up to 250cm to 400cm in the
northeast mainly in the monsoon. Annual rainfall occurs between June and
September.
Best Season for Traveling:
Cool and comfortable time is the dry season from
October to Match. Temperature varies from 120 C to 290 C during this time. The
Sun is mild and pleasant. The monsoon also has its own charm. It is also a good
time for brief and unique visit.
